Week 2 - Meeting With Our End-Users

This week we had the opportunity to talk to users and continue our research about the problems that occur while sitting at family meals. It was a great chance to understand if our research with the psychologists, nutritionists, and parental therapists was in line with professional research.

This week revealed a difficulty in comprehending the primary issue of the users. The interviews didn't show a specific problem that stood out from the others. It was very interesting to see that some of the ideas that we marked as potential issues in the beginning weren't shown as a problem to the user at all.

Another problem that occurred was the fact that some of the interviewers didn't share all of their stories and problems and tried to introduce their families as "perfect" without any issues. Despite that, we managed to find some signs of parents' problems that aren't involved in the family meal. Furthermore, we discovered some indications of children's resistance to trying new and healthy foods.

We had a great time sitting with people and asking them about their eating habits and day-to-day routines, and we enjoyed sitting together as a team and seeing the different perspectives of each teammate, who comes from different academic areas. We learned the importance of paying attention to small details while interviewing people. Forcing our interview direction, jumping to conclusions, and paying attention to the interviewer and their body language are some of the details we tried not to include in the interview.
